Is your company licensed?

Yes.  We are licensed by the Department of Criminal Justice Services for the state of Virginia.

If I want different keys to work my locks, do I need to buy new locks?

No.  Our qualified locksmiths can rekey them so the old keys won't work and give you new keys. 

If I buy new locks, can I get them to work with my old key?

As long as the key holes are compatible, we can change the new locks to you old key.

How do I know if they can be matched up?

Simply take one of your old keys and stick it into the keyhole of the new lock.  It won't turn the lock, but if it can go in all the way, there is usually no problem.

Can you make keys for my car if I have lost all of them?

Usually.  We can make keys for most cars but for some of the newer, European cars, we may have to refer you to a dealer.

I called to get a copy of my car key and it sounded really expensive.  Why so much?

Many car manufacturers, in their infinite wisdom, now have keys with transponders in them.  This is basically a special kind of computer chip that directly communicates with the ignition of the car and is unique to that car.  Special equipment and special key blanks are required to program a new key.  Otherwise, the switch of the car will turn , but the ignition will not stay on.  You can have a mechanical-only key cut that will open your doors if you lock your key in, but it will not allow you to drive.

Do you sell safes?

Yes.  Albemarle Lock sells, services, opens and changes the combinations on safes, safe deposit locks, cash drawers, etc.

Do you carry commercial hardware, panic bars and other access control devices?

Absolutely.

Do you install doors or security bars?

Not usually.

Yes.  We can masterkey all the locks so that you have one key that fits everything but the tenants have keys that work only on their unit.
